Monday morning my woman noticed I was a little stiff in my left hip after I got up from a nap. It went away after I took a couple of steps but would come back after I slept for a long time.
She also noticed that when I got up onto my triple-decker bed, I would get up normally but I would hold my left leg off the ground for a tiny second before I put it down. She also noticed my right leg moved farther than my left when I trotted by. When I wasn't a lot better by Wednesday, my people made an appointment at the vet. So today I went to the vet. She was a wise woman and said I was an excellent dog with shiny white teeth, lots of muscles and I was very sweet. She also said my people pay a lot of attention to me to be able to see that there was something not quite right with my leg. I was also probed again in an area where things should come out but that's another story. She messed along my spine, checked my feet and toes very carefully and spent a lot of time moving my back legs. She thinks my friend Maxi may have hurt me Monday morning when we were playing. Maxi is a Rottweiler and she pushed on my left hip hard enough that I kind of squatted. She said dogs with hip dysplasia and arthritis notice smaller injuries more in their bad parts so if I strained a muscle or even had a bruise, I would try to protect my bad hip more. I'm supposed to just go for leashed walks and not get all crazy with my friends for awhile. And take pills that will keep swelling down when I need them. My woman is looking at things that will do what the pills do but not do any bad things to my body. And I still get to swim on Saturday! My people say my hip will probably enjoy the warm water. My woman said if I wasn't the last swim of the day, she'd see about having the massage therapist give me a massage after my swim. Comments are closed.
