Happy Howl-O-Ween everybody!!! I hope everyone stays safe and has fun today. My people told me I don't have to dress up this year because of my nose. We're also not handing out candy because of it too. They say they don't want me to get all excited by people coming up to more door for 4 hours. Especially since I keep rubbing my nose against the glass of the window in my room and making it bleed when people come by. I went to the rehab vet last Friday to get adjustments done and she was really happy with how good my nose looked. I was very grumbly and squirmy and didn't cooperate at all. She was very happy that I was like that because I was my normal self so she said I must be feeling a lot better! Saturday I went to my holistic vet. My woman noticed 2 tiny little spots on my left eye while I was at the rehab vet. The vet looked at my eye and said they look like lipid (fat) deposits. Her dog has them too. My people are to look at my eyes to see if I get more or if the ones I have start to get bigger. The vet also said I could go to an eye specialist if my people wanted. Jonny is feeling a lot better now. He barks when he gets excited and runs up to see me. He wasn't doing that before. Tuesday I had my massage with Beth. She said the lump she found the last day of April had gotten bigger. It was a little bigger than a pea and was now marble sized. I went to the holistic vet yesterday to have it looked at. It was really hard to find. I had to lay on my side with my legs kind of together and even then it took a couple of minutes. She poked a needle in it and said it was mostly fat cells but she saw some other stuff in it so we had the slides sent out to be looked at. She said she'd have the results Saturday or Monday. If Monday, she'll call Tuesday because Monday is her day off. Thought you would enjoy some pictures from Howl-O-Weens past. Starting with my 1st in 2007.

I got to go swimming on Saturday!!! First time in forever! My people weren’t letting me go because the scabs on my nose would get soft, peel back, and my nose would bleed. I barked all the way to the pool, was crazy at the pool, and barked most of the way home. My nose has healed up enough that it never even had a chance to bleed! Jonny is doing much better. He had is x-rays taken and there was nothing inside him causing problems. His people think he ate something out on a walk that was really bad for him but wasn’t enough to show up in blood tests or kill him. It took him a while but he’s finally back to normal. It’s been really cloudy here lately which is good for my nose healing! My nose hasn't fallen off my face from the Lupus so that's a good thing! Last week we went to the rehab vet to pick up more of the doxycycline and then stopped at my new vet to pick up the Chinese herb that came in. I ate a lot of liver treats while I was there!!!!! Where my nose lost the hair is looking pretty fuzzy now. More texture has come back on it too. The wounds are still slowly healing. Some days they look worse than others but my people say even when they are worse, they are still better than they were the time before. My BFF Jonny has been sick this week. A couple of week ago, he had surgery to remove a broken molar, remove a skin thing from an eyelid, and poke a needle into 2 lumps that showed up all of a sudden to see what was in them. All that went fine. Monday he started throwing up in the middle of the night and didn't want food or water. He went to the vet and got fluids and a shot to make him stop throwing up. He hasn't eaten since then, they've had to make him drink water, and he won't poop. Yesterday he didn't want to walk, his hind end was shaking, his fur was standing up on his butt, and his heart was beating really fast. He's at the vet today to have x-rays taken to make sure everything is OK inside. He hasn't wanted to eat or drink. I went over there this morning to help get him into his car and he ran up to see me and then wanted to go for a walk. He tried to poop but really couldn't and he still wasn't eating and was drinking a little but not enough. While I was waiting for Jonny to get back from his walk, I chased squirrels in Maury's yard. If I was into the actual catching of squirrels (been there, done that, bored me to death), I would have had one. I was between it and the big oak tree so instead of running to the next tree, it ran for the oak tree and jumped onto the trunk right in front of my face. I bashed it with my muzzle and let it go up the tree. It may be the 2nd dumbest squirrel I've encountered. The dumbest one was the one I walked up behind and it didn't realize I was there. I was so close to it, my breath made it's fur ripple. It took awhile for it to realize I was there. The sores on my nose started looking bad again and I started to lose pigment on one spot of my nose so I went to a new vet on Friday that treats a lot of autoimmune diseases, especially Lupus.
I liked this vet office. It smelled nice and they have the best treats ever! LIVER TREATS!!!!!!! The new vet said there was no need to cut off part of my nose since it was obvious what I have. The vet also told my people that this disease will have good periods and bad periods so what we are seeing is normal. She said I should be getting Vitamin E, an antioxidant, an immune support powder, and a Chinese herb in my food. She also said they should use Vitamin E and aloe vera on my nose to help it. And I'm supposed to wear a sunscreen on my nose if I'll be out in the sun. She also wants my raw diet changed to turkey, chicken, duck, rabbit, and fish but my woman is reluctant to do that. The vet said my blood is too hot and I need cooling and neutral foods. I don't like rabbit much and this diet would need a lot of vitamins, minerals, and other crap added to it so my woman started looking for other cooling meats. What she found out is very few sources agree on what meats are considered what. So we're waiting on changing the diet until we see how all the other stuff works. She said my woman should start using the essential oil blend on me that helps with immune support again. She said the oil blend for non-healing wounds and the blend for skin issues my woman has been using on my nose were good and to keep using them. She liked oil blend I get for my joint issues and the one for stress. My woman was happy that the oil blends were approved because they really help me. The only thing my woman doesn't like about the oils is the customer service - I can't repeat what she says about that because she uses a lot of words that aren't very nice whenever she tries to get information from them. I started the antioxidant and immune support powder Friday and had an application of the immune support oil blend. My woman also found a Vitamin E that uses sunflowers instead of soy so she ordered that for me. Saturday we went to a garden center and bought 3 huge orange balls that I picked out --- oh... the millions of orange balls they had, I was so excited I was crying --- and an aloe vera plant. I haven't been able to play with the balls I picked out yet, my people call them "pumpkins." Sunday the mail truck delivered my Vitamin E and the mail man said I could go in his truck with him! So I started getting Vitamin E to eat on Sunday. We are still waiting for the herb to come in at the vet office. Monday my man went back to work for the 1st time since the last week of July. I wasn't happy about that. Then I scraped my nose on a torn up ball I have and it took about an hour for the bleeding to stop completely. I didn't bleed a lot but my woman had blood all over her hands and on her pants by the time it was done. She told me it would have stopped much quicker if I would have stopped licking my nose. I was licking my nose because it had blood on it and I don't like to smell like blood. Then she put a stinky, icky tasting oil on my nose to help stop the bleeding. So I had to try to lick that off which would make my nose bleed in 1 spot though it was just kind of oozing after the stop bleeding oil was put on. |
