The rainy season, or what should be the rainy season, is here which means significantly more clouds than sun for a good 6 months.
We are going into this time period with Chance's nose looking better than it has since her DLE symptoms first showed up in 2014. She had no issues at all this year with her nose and it is a black, normal looking nose. This means we have a choice: continue with the Doxycycline antibiotic that suppresses the immune system and works with the rest of what she is on to keep symptoms at bay or discontinue the Doxy for this time period and see how she does. Her regular vet has mentioned discontinuing the Doxy during the winter months when her nose looks good but we have never done it because it always had some pink on it. I think we'll talk to her vet about the pros and cons and also talk to her rehab vet about it since she was the one who diagnosed the DLE and has known Chance the longest of any of her vets. |
