My 2nd vacation was in 2008. My people wanted to see how I did if we stayed in 1 place for more than a day. They said I'm a "pro" at traveling and learned a lot about what I like lodging-wise. We drove to Bend so we could see some sights in the high desert of Central Oregon. It was my people's 2nd trip to Bend. They did the 1st trip before I was even born!
I went to the top of a volcano and to a place called a "drive in" where people wearing roller skates come up and take food orders then bring the food right to me!
At The Cabin
We made a stop at North Santiam State Recreation Site for lunch and to play in the North Santiam River. Then we drove to our cabin in Bend. It was out in the country on 10 acres of a bed and breakfast and we had 5 acres all to ourselves! There were even COWS next door!!!!!! I got to play ball and run around on the property all I wanted! And they had monster sprinklers for me to attack!!
Glass Buttes
We drove to a place called Glass Buttes so my people could look for something called obsidian. They found a lot. I thought it was kind of boring and I had to wear boots on my feet but I was a good sport about it! We saw a bunch of things called Antelope. They looked pretty tasty to me!
Petersen Rock Garden
We drove to the Petersen Rock Garden near Bend. It was a bunch of things that were made with rocks and minerals from the area and took the guy a couple of decades to build. The rock garden was pretty cool, there was a lot of stuff for me to explore.
Smith Rock State Park
We left the Petersen Rock Garden and went to Smith Rock State Park near Redmond, Oregon. The state park was a lot of fun with lots of trails and lots of people rock climbing to watch!
Bend to Home
We left the cabin and headed for home! We stopped at the river again so I could play. It was a lot of fun.
